Shubman Gill chooses Tobey Maguire as his favourite Spider-Man- Exclusive | Hindi Movie News

Cricketer Shubman Gill is set to make his voice heard in cinemas across the country as he lends his voice to Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian counterpart of Spider-Man, in the upcoming film ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ in both Punjabi and Hindi. Reflecting on his experience behind the microphone, Gill shares that Spider-Man has been his favourite superhero since his childhood.
Gill expressed, “When I was initially approached for the role, my reaction was, ‘This is amazing!’ because I grew up watching Spider-Man; he was the ultimate superhero for me. In fact, Spider-Man was the first superhero film I ever watched, and it holds so many cherished childhood memories. After returning from school, I used to climb the doors of our house through the gap between the wall and the door. My mother, who isn’t very tall, would scream at the top of her lungs for me to come down.”
When asked to choose his favourite Spider-Man actor among Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, Gill didn’t hesitate to respond, “It has to be Tobey Maguire. As a kid, I distinctly remember watching the third installment of his trilogy and absolutely loving it. As I grew older, I was told that people didn’t like it, which made me wonder how critics could label it as bad when I enjoyed it so much.”
Gill also disclosed his elaborate plans for the release of the last Spider-Man movie, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021). He had intended to wear the iconic Spider-Man suit and attend the film’s screening, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out as planned. He said, “You have no idea how much I wanted to do that for ‘No Way Home’. I even ordered the costume, but it was taking a long time to arrive from Australia, so I had to cancel it. Two of my friends have the same costume, and they paid $1500 for it. I ordered the exact suit they have. I felt quite left out when I saw those Instagram posts of people donning the Spider-Man suit and heading to the movies.”
