With 98 points, it’s a safe bet that Mitch Marner will become the fourth Maple Leaf to record 100 points in a season.

It has been done five times — twice each by Darryl Sittler and Doug Gilmour, and then by Auston Matthews last season, when he had 106.

“I think it would be great,” Matthews said. “He has been such a big driver of our team all year, every year, but especially this year. He has been playing some unbelievable hockey for us. It would be awesome to see him get rewarded with that.”

Don’t be surprised if Marner reaches 100 points on Monday, considering that he has 32 points (11 goals and 21 assists) in 22 career games against Florida.
“I would be so happy for him,” defenceman Morgan Rielly said. “He has worked extremely hard and he deserves it, certainly. He does everything right. To see a guy that plays the way he does hit 100 points would be very cool.”
