Made-in-India Citroen C3 exports commence to ASEAN and African markets


Citroen recently announced that it has begun the exports of Made-in-India Citroen C3 from the Kamarajar Port on March 31, 2023. The car manufacturer has commenced shipping the first batch of Citroen C3 as Completely Build Units (CBUs) to ASEAN and African markets. ASEAN countries are Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Launched in July 2022, the Citroen C3 is among the first three models based on the manufacturer’s CMP program that is specifically designed for the Indian and South American markets. Recently, the Citroen C3 received the “World Urban Car of the Year” award at the World Car Awards.
Thierry Koskas, CEO of Citroen said, “In addition to the commercial success of this model, it recognises the relevance of our growth strategy in India, Asia and South America.”
Under the hood, the Citroen C3 is powered by a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that puts out 82 hp power and 115 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Another engine option is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, churning out 110 hp power and 190 Nm torque. A six-speed manual transmission is on offer. The Citroen C3 offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.8 kmpl (NA petrol engine) and 19.4 kmpl (turbocharged petrol engine).

Recently, Citroen has hiked the prices of the C3 hatchback by Rs 18,000. The Citroen C3 price in India now starts from Rs 6.16 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.25 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). Moreover, the French carmaker has also launched the electric version, called the eC3 at a starting price of Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec variant of the Citroen eC3 is priced at Rs 12.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
