Lil Wayne endorses Trump. I’m disappointed but not surprised
Celebrities have shown their true colors ahead of the upcoming election.
We’ve seen Ice Cube, 50 Cent and Sean “Diddy” Combs make baseless comments about politics recently, and now we have another rapper to add to the list: Lil Wayne.
RAPPERS GOING REPUBLICAN: Opinion: Ice Cube has joined forces with Trump, and I’m not happy about it
On Thursday, Lil Wayne publicly announced his support for President Trump.
In a tweet he wrote, “Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”
Social media immediately went into a frenzy over the news.
While I will admit I’m disappointed, the rapper’s sentiments don’t surprise me in the slightest. Lil Wayne is the same rapper who once claimed to believe racism wasn’t real and said he didn’t know what “Black Lives Matter” was in a live interview.
When it comes to politics, many celebrities aren’t qualified to speak for the people — once they reach a certain tax bracket, they become disconnected from real life.
But Lil Wayne has never been regarded as a voice of reason.
