The Montreal Canadiens made the first surprise pick of Wednesday’s NHL draft and certainly, it seemed to flummox Carey Price.

The great goaltender was invited by general manager Kent Hughes to announce the Habs pick at fifth overall on stage with team officials at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, but he fogged on Austrian defenceman David Reinbacher’s surname, looking around for help after saying ‘David.’

Perhaps Price didn’t expect his team to take the right-hand shot who played in Kloten, Switzerland with names such as forwards Matvei Michkov and Ryan Leonard still there. Hughes tried to joke about Price’s flub being a planned gag before Reinbacher was officially introduced.

Sportsnet, which had a live mic on Reinbacher, provided a pre-taped message from countryman Thomas Vanek wishing the 6-foot-2 prospect the best in his NHL career.
